The Cancer Toolkit is a peer-to-peer patient and caregiver resource curated by experienced and successful patients and caregivers who have passed forward their collective knowledge, experiences & wisdom. Each toolkit contains prioritized checklists, must-do’s, and simplified explanations that empower its user (s).
The Cancer Toolkit begins with a ‘patient toolkit at the center of a community of specifically tailored toolkits that reflect each individual who forms part of the patient’s supporter community. This community of toolkits synchronizes and choreographs the effort of the many around the patient at its center. We believe this provides the patient with their first road map to best outcomes.
Toolkits have been assembled, organized, by Steve Holmes, a former stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma patient who faced and overcame significant surgery challenges followed by prolific metastasis that left him with weeks if not days to live. Steve has been completely cancer-free since October 2017.
Steve has been privy to much of the medical advancements that are now saving lives. He was also stunned that these advancements were not reaching the “Newly Diagnosed Patient and Caregivers”, who were dying without the full knowledge and choice available. Clogged, ineffective communication channels along with outdated attitudes were responsible -There had to be a better way, and that was found hiding in plain sight – the growing globally connected patient and caregiver communities and the rising knowledge they created.
